Dan Harris is a Kentucky native who has built a life in North Carolina over the past four decades. After graduating from Georgia Tech with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree, Dan continued in the field, earning his MS and PhD at NCSU. His 30-year technology and business development career began with a start-up in Hickory, NC that ultimately helped to create the fiber-optics industry. His professional passion has always centered on finding statistical and analytical solutions to real-world problems, which ultimately inspired him to pursue a Master of Statistics degree at NCSU and begin a new career teaching the subject he loves.
He raised his two daughters, Georgie & Rachel, in Hickory, and he currently resides in Raleigh with his wife and best friend, Ginger.
Dan is an avid cyclist and a diehard Kentucky basketball fan. He enjoys listening to and playing guitar with his daughter Georgie, a web-site designer and musician based in Atlanta, GA. He also loves spending time with his daughter Rachel, who works for a non-profit in Columbus, OH and is mother to Dan’s precious grandson, Miller.
